King of Prussia Players Guys and Dolls 2007February
2008 at Shannondell:
Guys and Dolls Music
and Lyrics by Frank Loesser Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows Based
upon the Characters of Damon Runyon Stage
Director: Robin J. Neill
Damon
Runyon was quoted as saying
"The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but
that's the way to bet." While our Guys bet on some highly unusual
feats of daring do, our Gals are betting on our Guys. And the
winner is... You, right there in the audience for this great
musical.
With classic numbers like "Fugue for Tinhorns",
"A Bushel and a Peck", "If I Were a Bell", "Luck Be a Lady" and "Sit
Down, You're Rockin' the Boat", we are putting our money on Guys and
Dolls as the odds on favorite musical of the year.
Guys
and
Dolls first opened on Broadway in 1950 and is regularly revived on the
professional stage. The most recent revival in London closed in early
2007 and is on tour. Now we will have our turn. The Players last
presented Guys and Dolls in 1989.
Join
us as the
colorful Runyon characters come to life once again, challenging
the odds to win at love (and craps) on the streets (and in the
sewers?) of New York.
