King of Prussia Players Joseph 2008July

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat Stage Director: Laurel Smith Musical Director:
Keith Clattenburg Choreographer: Tom

Since its first production 40 years ago, Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat has grown. In terms of audience
appreciation, it has grown to be one of the
most enduring and endearing shows of all time. And it has grown in the
actual length and content of the
production.
Based on the "Coat of many colors" story of
Joseph, his father Jacob and
his 11 brothers from The
Book of Genesis, this light-hearted
show was first presented as a fifteen-minute pop cantata at Colet Court
school in London on March 1, 1968. It's the second musical written by
the now famous team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, and it was the
first of their musicals to actually be performed.
No longer a pop cantata, The Players' production of Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat will
feature at least 20 musical numbers from both the original production
and the many revised stagings since the original production. If
you have seen Joseph
in the
past, you can be sure that it will be bigger and better when you see it
in the future. This is one of the remarkable features of what has
become a timeless experience. The Players' production will, of course,
continue this tradition.
Please join us as "With a crash of
drums and a flash of light," Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoatexplodes
onto the Shannondell Performing Arts Center stage to become the
first Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice piece that
The Players have ever produced. It certainly will not be the last.
