Mixed Doubles is a comedy of manners about three intermarried couples in their thirties and forties who have agreed to participate in a program at their tennis club that offers them free court time in exchange for their willingness to be interviewed by a therapist doing research on marital relationships. As they balance the demands of careers, children, friendship, love, religion, sexuality, and recreational but competitive tennis, they respond to the probing questions of their confessor, not always willingly. Meanwhile, a birthday celebration that gets out of hand threatens to test all three marriages in ways new to all six spouses, and marriage is examined through a prism that sees the ups and downs of matrimony as not unlike the ebb and flow of a tennis match, and all marriage as intermarriage.
Parentheses is a visit to a Parent Teacher Conference that you
will always remember. Join Gary Sobel as he discusses his daughter's
"problems" in school with her teacher, Cinnamon Fitzpatrick.
